Antoine Bouvard Sr

(1870 - 1955 )

Antoine Bouvard Sr. was born in Paris in the late 19th Century and he died circa 1956. He studied in Paris and was influenced by the well-known French artist Felix Ziem. After completing his studies he went to the South of France where he painted a number of landscapes. Later Bouvard went to Venice and spent most of his time there. He is best known for his many views of Venice and its canals. The artist occasionally painted under the name of Marc Aldine. His paintings are to be found in collections throughout the world, as far a field as Japan and the United States of America. Bouvard had a son, Noel Bouvard, who also painted views of Venice, who was born in 1912.
