His Rene Charles Edmond

( 1877 - 1955 )
BIOGRAPHY

He was born in Colombes (Seine) on 15th February 1877. He was a pupil of Jules Lefebvre, T Robert-Fleury and Henry Biva. He was chiefly known for his landscape paintings and was a member of the Society of French Artists from 1900. He was awarded a medal in 1900 for his works of Provence and Algiers and received an ‘Honourable Mention’ at the Universal Exhibition the same year. He travelled extensively in search of the idyllic river scenes that he depicted, and for which he is most celebrated. To these scenes he imparted a subtlety of touch and detail that have recently seen his reputation consolidated as one of the 20th Century’s finest landscape artists.
