Eugene Galien-Laloue

(1854 - 1941 )

Eugene Galien-Laloue was born in Paris. A pupil of Charles Laloue he was a painter and engraver and exhibited at the Artistes Francais for many years. His reputation is founded on his ability to depict the busy atmosphere of Paris at the turn of the century working delicately in watercolour and gouache. His works are not only of aesthetic value, but also important as historical documents of the life of the times. He also painted landscapes in Normandy.
